If you are a car lover in the Vancouver or Portland area and are looking for a fun Saturday, look no further. The new World of Speed museum in Wilsonville is now also the host of Portland’s famous Cars and Coffee gathering– and between the two, it makes for a great day.
Get there early for a great showing of cars from the community and then enjoy the outstanding offerings of the museum itself.
Cars and Coffee has quite the variety and is bound to appease any taste– from the classic car buff to the person seeking the latest and greatest technology. Some of last weeks gems were a Porsche Spyder 918, a fleet of Nissan GTR’s, a clean Chevelle, a TVR, two BMW I8’s, a plethora of Ferrari’s and Maserati’s, and a beautiful blue Shelby Cobra with white racing stripes.
Once inside the museum, you can enjoy displays showcasing NASCAR’s, classic motorcycles including Triumph and Harley, a 1929 Bentley “Old Number One,” open wheel racers, two top speed boats, drag cars, a cherry VW bus, and much, much more. And don’t forget to take a “ride” in one of their three simulators: a 1962 Lotus Formula Racing Simulator, Adrian Fernandez’s 1995 Lola Indy Car and Johnny Benson’s 1998 NASCAR Ford Taurus.
If you think a museum will be boring for the kids, think again! World of Speed has got the little ones covered. Their kids room has an art station, a Ford Mustang demo car meant to be climbed in, mechanical rides, and lots of other auto related toys for hours of entertainment. And be sure to check out their educational programs and summer camps!
So, look no further for your plans this Saturday… World of Speed has everything you need to kick off your weekend right!
