Is it time to service my vehicle’s air conditioning?

Is Your Car’s AC Due for Service? Key Signs to Look Out For

Spring has arrived in the Pacific Northwest, and while we don’t rely on our vehicle’s air conditioning as much as other regions, AC maintenance is still essential. Regular servicing is recommended every two years, even if your AC seems to be working fine. However, the exact timing can vary depending on your vehicle’s age, frequency of use, and local climate conditions.

Did you know that your car’s air conditioning system also functions as a dehumidifier? When you turn on the AC, it removes moisture and heat from the air inside your vehicle, lowering humidity levels for a more comfortable ride. The AC pulls in warm, moist air, cools it over evaporator coils containing refrigerant, and then condenses the moisture. This dry air is then blown back into the cabin. This is why you might see water dripping from underneath your vehicle—the moisture is being drained away after condensation on the coils.

Signs Your Vehicle’s AC Needs Service

If your Jaguar, Land Rover, or MINI is showing any of the following signs, it may be time for an AC service:

  • Fogging interior windows
  • Weak or warm air blowing from vents
  • Longer cooling time than usual
  • Unpleasant odors coming from the AC
  • Unusual noises from the AC system

Don’t wait! These symptoms could indicate an issue that may lead to more expensive repairs if left unchecked.
